Shared Gdrive & feedback sheet
Created a Matrix table with data from visual analysis in the previous module.
Identified themes according to the data collected from visual analysis into the matrix
Created some subtopics to be discussed in the discussion section (5.0)
Start writing 5.1 and 5.2
Be descriptive when introducing the role of movie posters in 5.1
- Updated 5.1 Introduction of movie posters
Add a paragraph before the beginning of the introduction under Section 5 to explain the purpose of the section.
In 5.2, focus on the ‘role’ of typography straightforwardly instead of thinking too much.
- Updated 5.1, 5.2.1, 5.2.2 with examples
Combine 5.2 and 5.3 so that it introduces the role of typography, illustration, and composition first before getting into the discussion on how selected posters’ visual elements convey the message to the audience.
Change figure numbers according to the section number you are on.
Change all the words written as an introduction to each section into past tense.
Add a brief synopsis to the selected movie posters.
Updated figure numbers and mini tabs
Updated grammar errors
Updated section 4
Updated 5.2 (in progress)
Added subtopics under section 2(Literature review)
At the beginning of the Section 2 (Literature Review) introduction paragraph, you can add how this section would be helpful for the research (or after the review).
Complete Section 2 (Literature Review) & Section 6 (Conclusion)
Updated 2.0 (Literature Review) and 6.0 (Conclusion) (in progress)
Added introduction paragraph to section 2.0 Literature Review
Make sure to put a title that matches the written content for section 2.0 Literature Review
For section 2.2, Be consistent when summarising the methodology used by the researchers in different papers. (Complete paragraph on Fitaloka et al. (2023).
Change the title of section 2.3 to ‘Conclusion’ and talk about the research methodology employed by the researchers and how it resulted in their study.
Do not start your conclusion (section 6.0) with the phrase ‘In conclusion…’. Instead, add these things: recap of the research problem, methods, summarised discussion, and also limitations of the study at the end of the section.
Completed section 2.0 Literature Review
Completed section 6.0 Conclusion, 7.0 Project Recommendation
In section 7.0 project recommendation, do add more categories of visual elements for the project so further discussion can be made in future researches.
Complete the abstract and credit pictures used in the research body texts.
For 2.1: Elaborate further on what visual elements have been analysed in Fitaloka et al. (2023).
Add a final conclusion before your research limitations wrap up.
- Updated abstract and finalized each section before submission
The heading font for idea 2 seems a little heavy (New Spirit font), mixing Helvetica as the heading and Bricolage Gtotesque as body text would be better for typographic choice.
Flush left for body text is more reader-friendly and avoids the text space causing rivers.
Try to explore further with the two proposed colour schemes to see which one fits better– however, navy colour suits better than red.
Try using a collage style for the chosen posters in the cover page instead of using grid.
Used the second idea for the colours with combinations of Helvetica as the heading and bricolage grotesque for the body text.
Added some threshold photos of movie scenes
- Dr Jinchi provided a final feedback document regarding to the dissertation draft before submitting it to Turnitin.
- Updated document with changes based on the feedback.
- Finalized book design with contents and imported into FlipHTML5 website for 3-book publication.
Create an appendix for each genre of posters to indicate which movie poster was analyzed.
Edit some texts based on the format of the article
Look for photos that are more relevant to the text (for example, a person looking at a poster rather than just a person’s eye)
Updated findings & discussion
Updated appendix list with picture credits
Replaced photos with more relevancy.
- Make sure only the cited references are present in the reference list.
Updated adding intro line for discussion.
Edited reference list to match the content.
