Week 06: Displacement Map

In week 6, Mr. Martin introduced us to the displacement map tool on Adobe Photoshop and how we can apply a flat image on a curved texture using this tool.

Things to keep in mind when using a displacement map:
  • Only recognizes black and white in colour
  • only recognize PSD files
Steps:
-make image bnw (image>adjustment>black and white)
-apply contrast using an adjustment mode
-add motion blur filter to soften/ smoothen texture/ noise (0.8-1.2 in range)
-save file as PSD 
- apply flag image on top
-apply smart filter (re-editable from time to time)
-create layer mask> Use brush tool to clean out unnecessary areas



























Week 07
Turning a human into cyborg

In week 7, Mr Martin introduced us to the Clone stamp tool and how we can create a human cyborg using these tools on Photoshop.


Use pen tool to select area, right click select mask

clone stamp tool, taking sample- click option -> paste sample onto new layer

merge layers using command e 











Week 9: Flower Face Portrait

In week 9, Mr Martin instructed us to create a flower face portrait using the tools below:

  • Pen tool (Path & Shape)
  • Blending Options
  • Colour Grading (Gradient Map)
  • Blending Modes
